I have basic to decent experience in Inventor but obviously I don't know the ins and outs. Thanks! Sorry if I wasn't clear - I can clarify if needed. I've been thinking of trying out MeshMixer, but I'd prefer to stick to Inventor.ĭoes anyone have any suggestions that would allow me to properly import and edit STL files in Inventor? The scaling is either by this factor, or by 10. On another part I converted, edited, and exported, I had to use a scale I calculated of 39.9% in my 3D Printing slicer in order to obtain the correct size. Seems to have retained the incorrect scale, however I lost the circular geometry, so I had to measure face to face. Now, measuring the mesh converted into a base part: This seems to be a factor of 10, which is fine, but inconvenient. If anything, closer to 19.7mm (measuring the 3D printed part from this, in which there is no scaling issues on my slicer. Inventor 2017 lets you work with mesh data in a more constructive manner measurements can be taken and such items can be integrated into assemblies where needed Shape generator Introduced into the 2016 release cycle (at Service Pack 2 and 3), Shape Generator is a topology optimisation add-in within the Stress Analysis environment in Inventor Professional. The inner diameter is not supposed to be 19.7cm (I tried inches and mm too). ![]() Furthermore, I used the Mesh Enabler plugin to convert the mesh into a base part and the scaling remains wrong, if not worse. I open them as you would any other file, and no matter what units I choose in the Options when opening, the mesh generated is off by some weird factor. While other devices will now show up in File Explorer, you will still need to enter a username and password in order to access files on them.Hi, I'm trying to edit STL files (from places like Thingiverse) but I run into some difficulty with the scaling when I import them into Inventor. For example, an iPhone simply cannot be accessed over the network so don’t expect it to show up in File Explorer just because it’s connected to the same network. It’s also worth checking to make sure the device can be accessed over the network. If all your devices still do not appear in File Explorer, make sure that they are connected properly to the network, and wherever applicable, check to make sure sharing and network discoverability has been enabled for all of them. This applies to devices that are not running Windows 10 1803, or any version of Windows such as a network drive, or a Mac or Linux PC on the network. Your network devices should start to appear now, and you will be able to share and access files from them. Once you restart your PC, open File Explorer, and click Network on the navigation panel. You need to change the Startup Type for every single service that is listed above.
